Managing Pawns

Your First Main Pawn

  • Unlocked via Main Quest
  • When you arrive at the Pawn Cathedral to retrieve the rift fragment (Lv 65), run to the end of the ruins, exit then re-enter to reach the correct side of the ruins to find the fragment
  • Initial vocation will be the first 4 but can be changed anytime at Archibald

Your Second Main Pawn

  • Acquired after giving White Dragon 10 Riftstone Shards
  • 10 Riftstone Shards can be purchased in the Shopping District of White Dragon Temple

Your Third Main Pawn

  • Must progress Main Story Questline (MSQ) to Lvl 45
  • White Dragon Blood Orb Tree 3rd Level must also be complete
  • Unless you have grinded for blood orbs, or really took your time with the login rewards, you won't have enough to quickly max out the third tree

Having 6 Pawns at once

  • Hire 2 pawns
  • Invite 1 Main Pawn to your party
  • Add both hired pawns to your party
  • Use the /invite MAIN_PAWN_NAME command to add your other 2 main pawns to the party

Pawn XP Distribution System

Notes

  • Experience points (XP) are distributed among pawns based on the player's level relative to theirs.
  • If the main pawn's level is higher than the player's, they receive slightly reduced XP to prevent them from outpacing the player's progress.
  • When the main pawn's level is lower, they gain increased XP to catch up to the player, maintaining balance within the party. This increase can be 10x or more XP than what the player gets.
  • For rented pawns, XP gain is proportional to the host player's level, not the renter's, ensuring fairness in progression.
  • Level gaps can lead to more significant discrepancies in XP distribution, so keeping pawns close to your level ensures smoother growth for the entire party.

Pawn Tactics/Training

Pawn Customization in Your Room

  • Your room, accessible from the Relay Station or via the Within Location tab (Rift Teleport), allows you to customize pawn tactics and grant them special abilities.
  • Special abilities include reviving the player or fully restoring the player's health.
  • Pawn tactics determine their behavior in battle, such as maintaining distance from enemies, prioritizing specific abilities, or deciding when to heal, buff, or climb foes.

Recommended Pawns

For Support

  • Priest isn’t played well by pawn AI
  • Spirit Lancer takes a lot of micromanaging (or manual work) with pawn commands
  • Elemental archer does what you want when you want it (usually)

For Damage

  • Sorcerer is by far the best pick

For Tanking

  • Blue vocations are usually not recommended
  • Pawn AI has difficulty holding aggro
  • Alchemist pawns are very clunky
  • Shield Sage is generally better of the two tank vocations
